Double Bassist/Music Educator
Currently living in Trinidad, Caitlyn hails from a musical family. A native New Orleanian, both she and her father, a horn player, began their careers in the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra. After graduating cum laude, with both a BM and MM from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles she accepted her first job as a section player in New Orleans. After one season she moved up to Assistant Principal and in her third year accepted the job of Principal.
Whilst in New Orleans, a desire to travel and see the world began to seep in. On a trip visiting family she successfully auditioned for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and promptly moved to Asia. After serving 6 years in the Hong Kong Philharmonic and having married a British trombonist, she moved to the UK, where she accepted a job with the BBC NOW in Cardiff as Assistant Principal.
Her discography includes recordings with top orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC NOW. She has also performed and produced a cd of two piano quintets, Opus 30 and 31, by the French composer, Louise Farrenc. She is soon to record a cd of new chamber music for double bass with the Ibis Ensemble, which is made up of musicians on staff at the Academy for Performing Arts at UTT where she is currently a faculty member. She is also the Section Leader Double Bass in the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
